Minimum Technology Requirements / General Course Navigation

Welcome! We are very excited to have you here with us! Please take a moment to review the information below on how to navigate the course. 

Once you have purchased and paid for the ICSC online E-learning you will enter the learning portal at http://courses.fics.sport 

  • Your username will be your email address.
  • You will be provided with a temp password when you are entering the site for the first time which you will be required to change to a password of your choice. This password will be provided to you once you have paid for the first module. As you continue to pay for new modules, these will be added to your account.

Whether you are taking an online class, a hybrid course, or a traditional face-to-face class that also has course material online, this E-learning site will act as your gateway. FICS’ primary online course management system is Moodle.

General layout:

This may look slightly different depending on what courses you have paid for and what is in your learning cart.

However, on the left side will be your courses and the right side will be the navigation pane which you can open up the courses to get a snapshot of the content of each module.

Each module is laid out in sections. The module will contain a range of reading material, videos, and resources for you to reference. It is set out to allow you to work from the top down and each section may have a short assessment which you will be required to complete before moving on. Once you have completed all the assessment and learning material the final assessment will open for you to complete.

TIP: The (back to the top) button at the bottom of each subsection will take you back to the top of the module.

TIP:  Transcripts are listed for your download of the information provided in the videos or course material. These are an additional resource for your learning benefit.

The Resources are listed at the end of each module for you to download a range of the resources used within the module. Please give us your feedback by completing the evaluation so that we can continue to improve the content and user experience.

TIP:  On the left-hand panel of the course, there is a “Support and Other Important Information” Block. This block contained information on getting support and contacting us. 

In the “Section Navigation” block. This block will allow you to easily move from one section of the course to another. To quickly jump from to different sections within the course simply click on the name of the section you would like to jump to within the “Section Navigation” block.

Article Readings: As part of the course, you will be asked to read various kinds of literature covering different aspects of head injuries in sports. Please read each article carefully as you will be tested on them.

Activities: You will also be asked to complete some activities. The purpose of these activities is to provide you with additional opportunities to interact with the materials in the course and to enhance the learning experience. It is highly recommended that you complete the activities as directed.

Videos: To enhance the learning experience, you will be asked to view different videos. These videos contained important information pertaining to the course. Transcripts of the videos are provided for your benefit to download if you wish. Once you have accessed a video, there will be additional controls available to you in a control bar at the bottom of the video.

Quizzes: At the end of each section of the course, you will be required to complete a quiz. These quizzes are designed to test your understanding of the materials. Please note that you must have a score of 80% or better to pass. If you did not pass the quiz the first time, you will be able to take it immediately, however, If you did not pass the quiz the second time, the waiting period before you can retake the final exam. 

Make sure you READ: the course introduction at the start of each course which will provide you with more information about that module. 

Tracking Your Progress:

      • You will notice that there are small boxes at the right of the readings and activities throughout the course.
      • These boxes are there to help you track your progress as you progress through the course.
      • As you complete each reading or activities, please feel free to click on the box to mark it.
      • This will help provide a placeholder for when you return to the course.

Evaluation:

At the end of the course, you will be asked to do a short evaluation. We hope that you will provide us with constructive comments on what worked well and how to improve the course. We value your input as this is how we are able to make continuous improvements to our online Continuing Education programs.

E-learning technical requirements – What do I need?

You will need access to a computer and internet to undertake the E-Learning. Several computers allow access to the Moodle course management system. However, whatever computer you are using, your system will need to meet the following minimum standards to be able to access the learning modules and watch the videos. 

Possible Problems  I cannot get this to work, what do I do?

You are able to login to Moodle, but you cannot find your course or you’re having other issues with Moodle, If so, contact admin@ficsport.org and explain the issue and send us a screenshot of the problem and we will get back to you promptly.

For instructions on how to take a screenshot of your computer screen, you can find more information on google Window or Mac 

Please be aware that FICS admin support is in Australia so there may be a slight time delay based on your time zone. As a general rule, we reply to all emails within one working day.
